Gonadotropes are basophilic cells in the anterior pituitary that produce the gonadotropins follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Release of FSH and LH by gonadotrophs is regulated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus.[1]
