The Gondelbahn Grindelwald-Männlichen is a gondola cable car linking Grindelwald with Männlichen. It is the third longest passenger-carrying gondola lift in the world.

  • 1977 Company was founded.
  • 1978 The Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway opened on 23 December. Building costs were CHF 22 million.

The initiators of the cableway considered it essential provide direct access the snow-sure and wind-sheltered Männlichen ski region and thus extend the ski season into spring. It would also create interesting new round-trips and hiking attractions.

With an overall length of over 6071m, the Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway is the world’s third longest aerial gondola. There is an intermediate station at Holenstein where the gondolas change cable. The gondola cableway can transport 900 persons per hour at a speed of 4 m/s. The journey time from Grindelwald to Männlichen is 30 minutes.

The gondola cableway was constructed by Habegger Maschinenfabrik AG.

It is a 3 minute walk from the Gondelbahn base station at Grindelwald to the Wengernalpbahn station at Grindelwald Grund.

It is a 4 minute walk from the Gondelbahn top station at Männlichen to the Luftseilbahn Wengen-Männlichen.
