Gosha-e-Durood is a full time sufi institute like the traditional khanqah where individuals gather for remembrance and recitation of greetings and salutations (Salat and Salam) upon the Islamic prophet Muhammad. This is a unique spiritual retreat and approach for character reformation. It was established on 3 December 2005 by Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and is based at the headquarters of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Lahore, Pakistan.
The individuals recite verses from the Quran, Durood and Salam, non-stop on daily basis, 24 hours a day. A group of 8 people attend the gathering for at least 10 days to take part in a unique spiritual experience. The individuals change shifts every 8 hours to cover the whole 24 hours.[1]
The remote users from abroad can be registed on the website and submit their recitation of durood online. After every month a spiritual gathering takes place in Lahore which includes recitation of Quran, naat and speeches on spirituality and durood is submitted upon the Prophet Muhammad.[2] Countless salutations have been recited for Muhammad.[3]
A purpose built building with Mawlana Rumi style minaret is under construction, expected to be completed by 2009.[4]
