The Goulburn River is a tributary of the Hunter River in New South Wales, Australia. The Goulburn River rises east of Mudgee and flows east, joining the Hunter River near the town of Denman.[1] It flows through a rugged and partly settled area, much of which is a national park. It has a number of tributaries including the Widden Creek, the Krui River and the Merriwa River.
The River was explored by William Lawson in 1823. The Goulburn River was named after Henry Goulburn, a British politician in the 1820s.
