The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album has been awarded since 1991. A similar award, the Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Contemporary, was awarded from 1978 to 1983. In 2007 the award was renamed Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.
