Metropolitan areas in Portugal

A Greater Metropolitan Area (Grande Área Metropolitana in Portuguese) is a type of administrative division in Portugal. Each one consists of at least nine municipalities (concelhos) and has at least 350,000 inhabitants. As of May 2003, they have greater autonomy.
