Gun Hill Road is an express station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located in the Bronx at the intersection of Gun Hill and White Plains Roads, it is served by the 2 train (all times), and by the 5 train (rush hours in the peak direction).

This station formerly had another level below the current one. This level was used for the IRT Third Avenue Line and was abandoned after service was terminated in 1973. The lower level mezzanine was visible behind a gated area. The next local stop was 210th Street – Williamsbridge, and the next express stop was Fordham Road until April 28, 1973. Down one more level to the street is the current station house. A view over the edge of the southbound platform once revealed hints that the lower level had a wide island platform and two tracks. They have been removed, but the trackways remain. North of the station, there were junction tracks, making a five track/trackway line for a short distance. From west to east, they were as follows: main southbound, 3rd Avenue southbound, main center, 3rd Avenue northbound, main northbound). At one time old signs on the lower level were still visible from the windows of downtown trains arriving into the upper level station, but were removed as part of the refurbishing project (see below for details).

Entry to the station on the 2 and 5 lines.

The upper level is still active, with three tracks and two island platforms and sodium lights. The main crossunder was located on the lower level until 2004 when the refurbishing project began. This project, completed in 2006, upgraded the station with a station house at street level located at Gun Hill Road and White Plains Road; the original was one short block north of Gun Hill Road. New escalators and elevators now make this station ADA-compliant.
