HMAS Vendetta (D08) was a Daring class destroyer of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). She was laid down by the Williamstown Dockyard at Melbourne in Victoria on 4 July 1950, launched on 3 May 1954 and commissioned on 26 November 1958.
Vendetta was the only Australian-built warship to perform in an active combat role in the Vietnam War.[2] During this time she saw service as part of the USN shore barrage, ably demonstrating her superiority as a purpose built gun ship, with her pin-point accuracy and high rate of fire - she had had her gun directors modified to extend their range out to beyond 22,000 yards and could achieve 65 rounds per minute from her main armament.
Vendetta paid off on 9 October 1979.
