Hackbridge is a suburb in London Borough of Sutton, Greater London. It is situated 9.07 miles (14.6 km) south-west of Charing Cross. Hackbridge was home to the first Country dogs home opened by the Duke and Duchess of Portland. This was where the Balfour Kilpatrick Offices once stood.

The London Borough of Sutton is working to make Hackbridge the 'UK's first truly sustainable suburb' detailed plans include proposals for new eco friendly homes, more shops, leisure and community facilities, jobs, sustainable transport and pedestrian/ cycle initiatives, improved networks and open spaces.[1]
The BedZED eco-friendly housing development is located in Hackbridge.
