In Islamic mythology, a Hafaza is a type of angel.[1] It is similar to the Christian concept of a guardian angel.[2]

Each person is assigned with four Hafazas, two of which keep watch during the day and two during the night.[2] They help the soul fight attacks from the Devil and djinn. The Hafazas keep track of each and every good and bad deed that their person performs in their books. On the Day of Judgment, they will be used to determine if the person is worthy of admission into Jannah (paradise).[2]
