Hair Club is one of the largest companies in the hair restoration and hair replacement industry, with more than 90 locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The company was founded in 1976 by Sy Sperling, known by the trademark phrase “I’m not just the president, I’m also a client.” [1]
The company caters to a predominantly male clientele, but in recent years has added services for women to address female hair loss and thinning brought on by chemotherapy, menopause, postpartum stress, trichotillomania, hormonal imbalances, and natural aging.

[edit] Services
Hair Club provides several different types of services to address hair loss including a non-surgical bio-matrix strand by strand process, in which human hair is added to the balding area in a crisscrossing matrix, and hair therapy programs that use scalp cleansers and conditioners as well as U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved hair re-growth agents. Hair Club also works with a dedicated physician network that performs microscopic follicular unit hair transplantation procedures.
[edit] Hamilton-Norwood Classification Scale for Men
Hair Club uses the Hamilton-Norwood Scale, which ranges from stages I to VII, to help male clients categorize their level of hair loss [2].
[edit] Hair Club in popular culture
Craig Ferguson, host of CBS’ The Late Late Show, referenced the company in a 2007 monologue,
"First rule of Hair Club is don’t talk about Hair Club" (an obvious allusion to the first two "rules" of the novel Fight Club and its movie adaptation). [3]
In the TV series Dinosaurs episode "High Noon', the Hair Club was parodied as the "Horns Club" (promising dinosaurs "thick, full horns"}with its president Spike Sperling.
In the tv series South Park episode Fantastic Easter Special (season 11, episode 5) it is revealed that Randy March is a member of a secret Easter bunny society called the "Hare Club for Men".
