The Heartland Prowl are a basketball team based in Sebring, Florida in the Florida Basketball Association. Founded in 2009, the team played two seasons in the new American Basketball Association, and was previously based in McDonough, Georgia (as the Georgia Prowl) and then in Avon Park, Florida. They then played in the Continental Basketball League for the 2011 season. They play their home games at Sebring High School.

History[edit]

The team was founded in 2009 as an expansion team in the new American Basketball Association. During the planning stages they were intended to be based in Savannah, Georgia as the Savannah Prowl, but relocated before the season to McDonough, Georgia, adopting the name Georgia Prowl. They played for one season in McDonough, using the Eagle's Landing High School gym as their home facility. For the 2010-2011 season they relocated to Avon Park in Highlands County, Florida, changing their name to the Heartland Prowl. After the season they announced they would be joining the Continental Basketball League.[1] They moved to nearby Sebring, Florida and played their games at Sebring High School. At some point in 2012, they left the CBL and joined the FBA.
