Heinz Nowotnik was a Obersturmführer (First Lieutenant) in the Waffen SS who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, on the 14 May 1944 while in command of the 14th Machine Gun Company,1st SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment LSSAH (LSSAH).[1]
