Heinz Prüfer

Ernst Paul Heinz Prüfer (10 November 1896 – 7 April 1934) was a German mathematician, who worked on abelian groups, algebraic numbers, knot theory and Sturm–Liouville theory. His advisor was Issai Schur.

Prüfer was married, but without children. He died early of lung cancer.
