HelpArgentina[1] is an United States-based 501(c)(3) non-profit non-governmental organization that acts as a bridge, connecting the international community with responsible, efficient, and transparent organizations in the Argentine social sector. It is a philanthropy institution that provides a platform for individuals to support over 50 Argentine non-profit organizations either as donors or volunteer fundraisers.
The organization works with institutions such as the Open Society Institute (OSI), the Tinker Foundation and the World Bank to promote organizational best practices and accountability in the Argentine non-profit sector. Other initiatives promote individual participation and donation. One example is HelpArgentina Night, a night of simultaneous benefit dinners hosted by individuals all over the world. Another is the HelpArgentina Prize which annually recognizes 5 individuals who have supported Argentine social causes from abroad.
The organization works out of Buenos Aires, and New York and New Jersey under the name of HelpArgentina/New York. It was founded in 2002 during the Argentine crisis by two young entrepreneurs Lloyd Nimetz and Julian Bedel. In addition, HelpArgentina operates InsightArgentina, a program offering volunteer and internship positions in the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, and Buenos Aires.
