Henderson Group plc (LSE: HGI, ASXHGI) is a British investment management company based in the City of London. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. It is also listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Henderson Group is the holding company of the investment management group Henderson Global Investors. Henderson Global Investors was established in 1934 to administer the estates of Lord Faringdon.[1] In 1975 it started managing pension funds.[1] It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1983.[1] In 1992 it went on to acquire Touche Remnant, an investment management firm.[1] It was bought by AMP Limited in 1998 and was renamed Henderson Global Investors.[1]

The Company was demerged from AMP Limited as HHG Group in 2003.[2] In 2004 it sold its 50% stake in Virgin Money Group to its joint venture partner Virgin Group.[3] In April 2005 it sold its Life Services business[4] and changed its name to Henderson Group plc.[1] Also in 2005 AMP Limited sold its remaining 15% stake in the Company.[5] The Company sold Towry Law, its financial advisory business, in 2006.[6].

Since 31 October 2008, the Group has been incorporated in Jersey and tax-resident in the Republic of Ireland [7].

In April 2009, Henderson acquired[8] New Star Asset Management and rebranded its UK retail business as Henderson New Star.

Henderson Global Investors provides investment management services to institutional, retail and high net-worth clients: a broad range of asset classes is offered including equities, fixed income, property and private capital.

The company provides its retail, institutional and high net-worth clients with access to skilled investment professionals representing a broad range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, property, private equity and cash. Henderson is one of Europe's largest investment managers, with £53.0 billion in assets under management (at 30 June 2009), employing more than 900 people worldwide.

Henderson, Hammerson and Land Securities together form the Birmingham Alliance who are responsible for the Bull Ring Shopping Centre development,[9] Martineau Place and the up-coming Martineau Galleries development.

Henderson is based at 201 Bishopsgate.
