Arkansas Highway 72 is an east–west highway of 43.6 miles (70.2 km) in Northwest Arkansas.[1] Between Bentonville and Gravette, Highway 72 follows a former alignment of U.S. Route 71.

The route begins at AR 43 in Maysville, and runs east. It intersects AR 59 in Gravette and concurs with AR 279 for 0.5 miles (0.80 km) near Hiwasse. AR 72 then runs southeast entering the Bentonville area. The route turns south in a short concurrency with US 71 BUS. AR 72 then turns east with AR 102 for 0.9 miles (1.4 km). It next turns north with AR 112 for 1-mile (1.6 km) before becoming leaving Bentonville and winding northeast. In Pea Ridge, the route concurs with AR 94 for 0.8 miles (1.3 km). The route then continues east and south to terminate at US 62.

In the late 1990s Highway 72 was rerouted away from downtown Bentonville along US 71 BUS, Highway 102, and Highway 112.

Arkansas Highway 72 Spur is a former spur route in Bentonville. Its southern terminus was at an intersection with U.S. Route 71 (now U.S. Route 71 Business (Northwest Arkansas) ) with a northern terminus at an intersection with Arkansas Highway 72 (aka Central Ave) in Bentonville. Running a total distance of 1-mile (1.6 km), it was an older alignment of U.S. 71 and at one time was part of U.S. Route 71 Business (Bentonville, Arkansas).
