Mozambique has a significant Indian/Hindu community. Most of their ancestors came to Mozambique close to 500 years ago. Living for 500 years in Africa, including under the influence of the Portuguese during their colonization, the vibrancy of Indian culture is still evident today. There is are few Hindu temples built in Mozambique. Most of the Mozambican Hindus are Gujaratis & Goans who migrated to Mozambique from Goa (India) which was a Portuguese colony till 1961.
The community of Hindus also has a cultural group known as "Comunidade Hindu de Maputo". There is also a 100 year old temple in a (surprise) remote area from capital Maptuo; in Salamanga. The temple also has a huge "ashram" near its complex. The place itself is very small and doesn't even have to metaled road. Another one is in Maputo also known as HINDU COMUNADADE, MAPUTO,A BIG TEMPLE COMPLEX. There is another one in Beira province.
