Mozambique has a significant Hindu community. Most of their ancestors came to Mozambique close to 500 years ago. Living for 500 years in Africa, including under the influence of the Portuguese during their colonization, the vibrancy of Indian culture is still evident today. There is a Hindu temple built in Mozambique. Most of the Mozambican Hindus are Goans who migrated to Mozambique from Goa which was a Portuguese colony until 1961.
