Linux Deepin, previously titled Hiweed Linux, describes itself as a "user-experience focused" Linux distribution. It is based upon the Ubuntu Linux Distribution. Previous releases used a highly customized GNOME Shell as the default desktop environment. However, the default desktop environment has changed to the Deepin Desktop Environment, or DDE, which was designed with the philosophy of providing a beautiful and user-friendly experience for the average user. DDE is built with WebKit and HTML 5. Linux Deepin also comes with many custom applications, including the Deepin Software Center, DMusic (a powerful audio player), DSnapshot (a screenshot tool), and others.
