[edit] History

[edit] Name change

The school was previously known as Hope High before it was reopened as an Oasis Academy on 1 September 2008, with a strong fundamentalist Christian ethos,[2] which is part of the job specification for the school's staff (staff are not required to be Christian however).[3]

[edit] New building

Oasis have ordered for a new school to be built at Salford Quays where the school will move into modern new buildings with a sixth form.[4]

[edit] Popularity

Figures published in the Manchester Evening News for 2010 show that this is the least popular school in the whole of Greater Manchester.[5] The 900 place Academy (plus a 250 place 6th Form) is estimated by Salford City Council's own figures to be over 65% empty by the academic year 2014/15 and numbers are predicted to drop to 329 pupils by 2016/17.[6]
