He began his musical career at the age of 6 by practicing classical Persian singing (Avaz) under his father's direction. According to the book "Masters of Iranian Music" Iraj’s grandfather was a designated singer at the court of Nasereddin Shah, a king of the Ghajar dynasty.
He moved to Tehran for further school education. After a while he was introduced by Hamid Vafaadaar to a master named Ostaad ("Master" in Persian language) Sabaa for further Persian classical music education which lasted for 2 years.
Iraj’s professional career started when Ostad A. Sabaa introduced him to the National Iranian radio at the age of 14. He then joined the classical Persian music program called Golha and worked with masters such as Ali Tajvidi, Habibollah Badiee, Parviz Yahaghi, Assadollah Malek, Homayoun Khorram, Jalil Shahnaz, Ruhollah Khaleghi, Mehdi Khaledi, Farhang Sharif, Ahmad Ebadi, Reza Varzandeh, Majid Najahi, Fazollah Tavakkol, Hassan Kasaiee, Feraydoun Hafezi, Nasser Eftetah, Jahangir Malek, Hossein Hamedanian, Amir Bidarian and many more. His voice was adored by majority of Iranians who used to hear his songs from Iranian national radio and also in many Persian movies, specially with collaboration Of Mohammad-Ali Fardin (a very popular actor in Iran during the decades of the 1960s and 1970s). According to Ostaad Banaan (a legendary Persian vocalist), Iraj’s voice is extraordinary and incomparable.
During those years Iraj also joined Iranian Militry Academy and became a LIEUTENANT COLONEL at the time of being pensioned from the army.
