These are the Billboard Hot 100 number one hits of 1984. The longest running number-one single of 1984 is "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, which stayed at the top for two weeks in 1984 and then for four additional weeks in 1985, reaching a total of six weeks at number-one. Jump by Van Halen and When Doves Cry by Prince stayed five weeks on number one.
