The Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart is the most important music chart for Spanish language/Italian language singles in the American music market. It was established by the magazine in the 1970s, when music labels and Billboard realized that Spanish-language songs had a great potential to the American audiences. The chart is based on airplay on Latin music stations. Songs on the chart are not necessarily in Spanish language.
