The 1884 Howard, South Dakota tornado was a large tornado that occurred on August 28, 1884. It demolished one farm, located south of Bridgewater, South Dakota. Four people were killed there and two injured. This tornado is notable in that it was one of the first tornadoes that is known to have been photographed, although no one has shown any proof of its authenticity.[1] The photographer is unknown, but it was taken southwest of Howard.
