Hugh MacDonald (correctly Macdonald) is a film director who in 1986 was nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short Film for The Frog, The Dog and The Devil, made with the New Zealand National Film Unit and Martin Townsend.
He also directed the short film This is New Zealand which was shown on three screens in the New Zealand pavilion at the 1970 world expo in Osaka.
The New Zealand pavilion at Expo '70 in Osaka reflected the heritage of the host country.... Memorable elements included John Drawbridge’s mural, Sue Skerman’s silkscreened perspex bushwalk and Hugh Macdonald’s film.
