Hughie McAuley
Hughie McAuley (b. January 8, 1953, Bootle, Liverpool) was the Liverpool F.C. Reserves team manager from 2003[1]-2009,[2] and for the 2005/06 season worked closely with Paco Herrera.
He worked for the club from 1990. He spent a number of years working full-time with the youth development team at Liverpool, coaching the Liverpool F.C. Academy Youth Team.[2] He was the manager of the first Liverpool Youth side to win the FA Youth Cup in 1996.[2]
As a player McAuley signed for Liverpool in 1970, but made no first team appearances. He also played for Tranmere Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton, Carlisle United and Formby.
He helped develop Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Jay Spearing during his spell at the Academy.
His son Hugh was also a footballer, and now co-owns his father's old club Formby FC.[3]
