The Hull to York Line is a railway line in northern England. It runs from Hull north west to York, via Selby.
Between Selby and York services can take one of two routes. Most services run via Sherburn-in-Elmet, but there is also a more direct route which follows the East Coast Main Line to Hambleton Junction, calling at fewer stations. A few trains continue through to the Yorkshire Coast Line - this involves a reversal at Hull.
Originally services between York and Hull used the York to Beverley Line, which was a shorter and more direct route. This was closed in 1965.
Services on the line are provided by Northern Rail, who run 1 train per hour each way between Selby and York and 1 train every two hours between Hull and York, Mondays to Saturdays. A limited service runs on Sundays.[1]
