I'll Scratch Yours is a forthcoming concept album developed by Peter Gabriel, giving artists whom he covered on his 2010 album Scratch My Back a medium to release covers of Gabriel's songs, which was part of the original intent of the Scratch My Back idea.

It was reported[1] on a January 2010 Peter Gabriel podcast that Radiohead would be covering "Wallflower" from Gabriel's 4th self-titled album. However, Gabriel subsequently reported in an interview in The Guardian that Radiohead had withdrawn from the project since hearing his version of their song "Street Spirit".[2] David Bowie also declined to record a Gabriel song. In March 2010, Gabriel announced that Lou Reed has covered "Solsbury Hill" while Brian Eno, the co-writer of "Heroes", is covering "Don't Break This Rhythm". Arcade Fire declined to cover a song due to prior commitments. David Byrne, formerly of Talking Heads, recorded a cover of "I Don't Remember" from Peter Gabriel 3. Elbow covered "Mercy Street" from So.

[edit] Singles

Gabriel originally intended to release Scratch My Back and I'll Scratch Yours simultaneously.[3] However, as completion of the latter dragged out, it was instead decided to release a series of double A-sided singles with one song from each album every new full moon during 2010 on iTunes.[4] The first, "The Book of Love"—Gabriel's cover of a Magnetic Fields song, together with "Not One of Us"—Stephin Merritt's (The Magnetic Fields' frontman) cover of a Peter Gabriel song, was released on 30 January 2010.[5] Gabriel's version of "The Boy in the Bubble" coupled with Paul Simon's version of "Biko" was the second, released on 28 February 2010.[6] The third in the series, Gabriel's take on "Flume" paired with Bon Iver's seven-minute long version of "Come Talk to Me" was released on 30 March 2010.[7]

The digital tracks appear to be iTunes exclusives; however on 17 April 2010 "The Book of Love" / "Not One of Us" as well as "Flume" / "Come Talk to Me" were also released on 7" vinyl to independent record stores.[8]
