[edit] Basic iDog
The iDog reacts to music from an external source, such as an MP3 player. It features seven flashing LED lights on its face and has the ability to 'dance' to the beat of the music. It also has a number of switches on its nose, head and tail which allow it to react to user input. It has various emotions (which change based on user interaction) that provide different color patterns on its LED lights. Made famous for multi-colored lights. The iDog was probably[weasel words] designed to interact with the iPod,[citation needed] though it will work with any 3.5mm audio jack input, and has an integrated speaker. It also reacts if placed near an audio source (such as speakers), and has 70 built-in melodies.
The iDog went on sale worldwide between March and April 2005. The iDog now comes in several colors including white, black, pink, a Target Stores exclusive red, a Toys "R" Us exclusive lime green, a tiger print, and a dalmatian print with either black or multi-colored spots.
[edit] iDog variations
As a promotional tie in with Spider-Man 3, Sega manufactured iDogs resembling Spider-Man. Called Spi-Dog, two versions are available: the black symbiote suit and the red and blue normal suit.
Japan also sells iDog Color, where the iDog is available in pale blue with star-shaped lights (Happy) and a pale pink with heart-shaped lights (Lovely).
In 2007, Tiger Electronics released the iDog Amp'd. It was an upgraded version of the iDog with stereo speakers which nodded its head and tapped its foot in time to the music being played on it.
Also in 2007, a basic version of the iDog was manufactured as a promotional tie-in for the Burger King corporation,[1] based on a similar, but smaller chassis with reduced functionality and different styling. The toy has a switch on its underside that turns on the toy and subsequent pressing of the nose button causes the lights in the head to flash varying colors. There is no speaker or movement. the last iDog that came out in 2007 was the iDog PUP a puppy verson of the idog witch had posable Ears and a moving head and does not need to be plugged in to a musical divice to function instead it listens through its micro phone located on his belly. The iDog PUP comes in 4 stiles rock=red, dance=green, hiphop=yellow, and pop=orange.
In 2008, three new versions of the iDog were released. The iDog Clip is a fully-functional mini-sized iDog which can be clipped onto a backpack etc, The iDog Dance is a full-sized iDog that stands up and dances in time to the music being played on it, and the iDog soft speaker which is a giant, plush, but fully functional iDog. The different colors mean different things.

[edit] iCat
The iCat is a feline version of the iDog. Similar to the iDog, it reacts to music from an external source, such as an MP3 player. It features seven flashing LED lights on its face and has the ability to 'dance' to the beat of the music. It also has switches on its tail, head (nose), and 6 touch sensors which allow it to react to user input. It has various emotions which change based on user interaction and music played with it that provide different color patterns on its LED lights.
It has four built-in riffs that come in four different music genres (rock, hip-hop, country, and dance).
The iCat is designed to personify different traits. When it is tapped on the nose, the iCat purrs with delight. It acts sick when it has been without music for a while; "feeding" the iCat music makes it feel better.
Hasbro also sells clothing for the iCat, called the "Chill" series, including hats, scarves, and tail-warmers.
The iCat comes in two colors: white and black.

[edit] iFish
A piscine version of the iDog, the iFish plays music and moves in a swimming-like motion. The iFish also has an internal selection of music. The fish, as with the dog and cat, comes in two colors: white and black. It comes with a 3.5 mm audio cable for audio input. Like the iDog, it is touch-sensitive.
[edit] iCy
The iCy is a penguin version of the iDog. In addition to playing music, it dances and the LED lights on its stomach flash in time to the music. Unlike its predecessors, it has only two touch sensors for user interaction, its tail, which is designed to annoy it rather than reward it, and beak, which you press to pet it. It has various emotions which change based on user interaction and music played.
The iCy is designed to personify different traits and acts irritated when it has been without music for a while, waving its arms and squawking; "feeding" the iCy music makes it feel better. You can also show it attention by tapping its beak, tapping it twice will prompt it to dance, sing one of its pre-coded songs, and display its current mood.
