Institute of Technology, Tallaght (ITT) formerly Regional Technical College, Tallaght, located in Tallaght, South Dublin in Ireland.

The institute was established in 1992, at that time the final new Regional Technical College opened in Ireland.

In 2005 the institute adopted the abbreviated title of ITT Dublin, to differentiate it from IT Tralee; this does not change the legal name which continues to be "Institute of Technology, Tallaght" as confirmed in the Institutes of Technology Act, 2006.

Since 2011 IT Tallaght has validated Theology degrees from The Priory Institute which is adjacent to the campus in Tallaght.[1] In 2013 it was announced that IT Tallaght, IT Blanchardstown and the Dublin Institute of Technology intend to apply for Technical University Status[2]

Faculties and Courses[edit]

The institute offers a variety of courses,[3] including Higher Certificates and Bachelors Degrees as well as Postgraduate courses in the schools of accountancy, business, computing, engineering, humanities and science

Please note that graduates of TA321 (Pharmaceutical Science - NFQ Level 8) or TA314 (Pharmaceutical Science - NFQ Level 7) do not qualify to register with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland as practicing pharmacists. Only graduates from the approved NFQ Level 8 Pharmacy courses of RC005 (The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland), TR072 (Trinity College, Dublin) and CK703 (University College, Cork) may successfully apply for membership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.

Student life[edit]

The college has many societies such as a drama society and a radio society. It has many successful sports teams.[4] ITT is in the process of redeveloping land donated by Saint Mary's Priory for use as sports pitches.

The Club's and Societies in IT Tallaght are numerous and perform well in intervarsity events. Societies include Drama, Radio, Soccer, Martial Arts, Computing and Snow Sports. In October 2012 a Cricket Club was set up in the Institute. The club has established to be one of the most active club in the Institute and will be taking in the upcoming Indoor Cricket intervarsities in Galway.

The institute is the hub of the ITnet network.
