Icon of Sin are a Metalcore band founded in Rome in 2009 after departing of many of the current band members with the former singer and founder member of the old The Wax Mask and with the entrance in the band of the current vocalist, Ruben Cerquetti: this renewed lineup led to the name change.

[edit] Style and influences
Icon of Sin's musical and technical style finds its place in American metalcore, incorporating several elements from Melodic Death Metal, mostly the ones which can be found in Göteborg's scene musical panorama, all brought together by the band's characteristic arrangements.
Indeed Icon of Sin's songs display every trademark characteristic of those main streams: a fast, melodic and aggressive guitar riffing, an hammering use of double bass at mid-high tempos and screaming/growling vocals as well as clean singing, accompanied often by keyboards, varying from strings to choruses depending on the song's context, as a countour.[clarification needed]

The band is about to release their first EP, recorded at the Solaria Mixing Room. No promo images or spoilers were released, apart from its title : Snow, a steady recall to how indifference is growing wider resulting in an ever growing number of people feeling paradoxically alone in an overcrowded world.

The lyrics constitute an essential and identifying element for the band, the thematics cover mainly the emotional sphere and the human sensations, moving on to the existential conditions in which, willingly or not, every one may find himself to struggle against; strengths, weaknesses, reckoning, frustration, flow, are some of the many pivots around which the lyrics themselves revolve, as in the track Holocaust Avenue which offers a depiction of madness taking over an individual which cannot stand anymore the dullness and repetitiveness of his life.

Since the beginning of the project The Wax Mask, Pietro Soddu is the only founder member left. Recently, Alessandro Di Lallo is departing from Icon of Sin to dedicate himself full-time to his other band, Strength Approach.
