Illahee Middle School is located in Federal Way, Washington. Originally, the school's mascot was an Indian Brave, symbolizing a virtuous acronym based on the tribe's namesake; however, the mascot has since been phased-out at the discretion of the Federal Way School Board and the logo replaced with a simple block-letter "IMS" graphic. Built in 1971, the school's architecture mainly consists of several red brick buildings separated by a covered outdoor corridor system. Much of the campus is set in a very forested region of uncleared trees and foliage making for a unique close-to-nature learning experience. Illahee Middle School's most recent remodel was in 1988.[2] Of the many aspects the institution is known for, athletics is among the most reputed. Illahee Middle School is the most Athletically inclined middle school in western washington. Teams are: Cross country (girls), Football, Track and Field, Baseball, Softball (girls), Wrestling and so on.
