Bradlees and JC Penney closed in early 2001. JC Penney's space became Bob's Stores, which closed in 2003 and was replaced by Steve & Barry's. Currently a "Pump and Jump" play area. Bradlees closed in late 2002 with the store space built out to accommodate Target; Lechmere closed in 1997, becoming Linens 'n Things in 2003; Old Navy and Borders Books also opened around the same time as Linens 'n Things; Both Linens 'n Things and Steve & Barry's closed in September 2008 due to company's bankruptcy; Old Navy closed in 2009; In January 2010 the mall's Uno Chicago Grill closed. Borders closed their store in September 2011, as the entire chain folded. On October 29, 2011, an independent bookstore filled the former Borders space. On December 5, 2011, construction began on a brand new 58,000 sf Regal Stadium 14 complex. This complex will eventually replace the current 22 year old movie theater. It is slated to be finished in July of 2012.

Independence Mall is located off exit 8 of Route 3 in southern Kingston, Massachusetts (Smith Lane/Rocky Nook exit).

- Sears (80,000 sq ft.) (opened 1989 as original anchor)
- Target (126,000 sq ft.) (opened 1989 as Bradlee's, closed 2001, became Target in 2002)
- Regal Cinemas (58,000 sq ft.) (opened 1989, Major expansion and renovation done in 2012)
- The Book Shack (? sq ft.) (opened 2000 as Borders; closed 2011 as entire chain folded, converted to The Book Shack in late 2011)
- H&M (40,000 sqft.) (Opened 2002)

- Filene's Basement (30,000 sq ft.) (opened 1989, closed 1998, remains vacant as of 2012)
- Best Buy (28,000 sq ft.) (opened 2002 in Mall expansion, closed 2010 to move to nearby Colony Place, remains vacant as of 2012; possibly could be occuipied by late 2012)
- Bradlees (126,000 sq ft.) (opened 1989, closed 2001, space is now occupied by Target)
- Old Navy (20,000 sq ft.) (opened 2000, closed 2009 to move to nearby Colony Place, Space now occupied by a Glow in the Dark Mini golf place)
- Borders (square feet unknown) (Opened 2000, closed 2011 due to bankruptcy, space now occupied by an independent bookstore called the Bookshack)
