The third season of Indian Idol began on 4 May 2007 and concluded on 23 September 2007. It was hosted by Mini Mathur and Hussain Kuwajerwala. Anu Malik, Alisha Chinai, Javed Akhtar and Udit Narayan were the judges. Prashant Tamang won the competition.

Prashant Tamang[edit]

He has been singing since childhood, but has never had any formal training. He sings in the police orchestra. He was in the Special Armed Force and has been working with the Kolkata Police since 2002. Prashant's father, who was with Kolkata Police, died when his son was still a teenager. The tragedy forced the teen to leave school and step into his father's shoes to look after his mother and sister. he is a winner to Indian idol season 3.

Amit Paul[edit]

Known as the lover boy of Idol, he had quit his studies to pursue a career in music. He can sing in six different languages.

Ankita Mishra[edit]

She is extremely passionate about singing. She made judges Anu Malik, Alisha Chinai, Javed Akhtar and Udit Narayan dance to her tunes. This talented girl did her schooling from the Mariampur Senior Secondary School, Kanpur, aspires to be a playback siger. She can even sing in a male voice. She was often called "the Powerhouse performer".

Meiyang Chang[edit]

He is Chinese origin by birth, born in India. Before Idol, he was a dentist. Never trained in music, he believes that he has inherited his singing genes from his father. He was a particular favourite of Alisha Chinai. Upset, she even left the stage after Chang was declared eliminated.

Deepali Kishore[edit]

She has learnt classical music for five years, and is also a good dancer and actor. Extremely hard working, she wants to use her talent and become a singer. She also wants to utilize her talent of spontaneous oration and become a Radio Jockey. She later sang in a duet with Emon Chatterjee.

Parleen Singh Gill[edit]

A great singer and a performer, he was often affectionately called the Chocolate Boy. He also tried out for Indian Idol 2 and made it to the top 50. Apart from making it big as a musician, he would like to join the Indian Army, like his father. He is very popular to girl to his great personality......After Indian Idol, he became a member of the famous ‘F4 band’, which was formed in contract with Sony BMG, consisting of Chang, Abhishek & Parleen himself. The band released their album in 2008 ‘Tu Toh na Aayi’, which was huge hit amongst youngsters and also he was 'Artist of the month for channel (V) and rising stars for channel (etc.) and many more. Now apart from singing he is a radio jockey with Red FM-93.5 as well. Has done shows all over India and countries like –Hong Kong, U.S.A, Kuwait, Dubai, S.Africa, Nairobi, Canada and many more.

Abhishek Kumar[edit]

Greatly inspired by singer Sonu Nigam and Kishore Kumar, he believes he has the X-factor to earn a good name in the music industry. He had also tried for Indian Idol seasons 1 and 2. He is a third year engineering student from Sir MVIT Bangalore and is a good dancer and does good mimicry. He has completed his engineering in the year 2009. And working as well till today. He has done playback for a movie Don Ke Baad Kaun and is pursuing his career in Music industry. He was also the Lead Singer of the Indian Idol Boy Band F4 with Sony Music. The boy band has released a music album also called Tu To Na Aai.

Smita Adhikari[edit]

Coming from a musical family from Kolkata, she has been learning classical music for 20 years. A graduate from the Calcutta University, she has two Bengali music albums to her credit. She was one of the most versatile contestants on the show.[citation needed]

Jolly Das[edit]

She was in Indian Idol 2, but being affected by chicken pox, she had to quit the show. This gave her the opportunity of being a part of the third season without any auditions. She has done graduation in music from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. The first-generation singer from her family, she idolizes Lata Mangeshkar.

Richa Aneja[edit]

The youngest among all the contestants. She aspires to become a famous vocalist. She has won several competitions at the district and state levels in Punjab.
