Indian School Ras Al Khaimah founded in 1979, is a Modern English Medium School. It is managed by the Indian Association.Situated in Nakheel, Ras al-Khaimah. The school is recognised by the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates and affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi. It has adopted the same syllabus as the Central Schools Organization and prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examination and Senior School Certificte Examination of the CBSE, New Delhi (India).
It was officially inaugurated on 5 November 1979 by H. H. Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, with 45 children in K.G. to six divisions each in lower and upper K.G. It has got the reputation of being the only school with a Yellow playground. It is top ranked school among all the Indian schools of RAK.
Registration for admission commences from 15 January. Admission is made from 1 March to 30 April.
Admission is granted strictly based on age limits and through entrance tests and subject to the approval of the Ministry of Education.
3 new wings has been added to the school, along with an extended lab for computer science.

Curriculum-Scheme Of Education
The school follows the curriculum conforming to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
The medium of instruction is English. The other languages taught at present are Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu, Bengali and French. Arabic is compulsory for Classes UKG to X in accordance with the U.A.E. Ministry of Education rules.
Islamic Studies is offered to Muslim students and Moral instruction to students of other communities. At the end of Class IX, the students appear for the Gulf Sahodaya Examination, which is common for the Gulf countries.
At the end of Class X they appear for the All India Secondary School Examination of CBSE, New Delhi. The School offers Senior School Certificate Course in Science and Commerce Streams conforming to the curriculum set by CBSE, New Delhi.
Subjects Offered at Senior Secondary Level
Science : English Core, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physical Education
Commerce: English Core, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physical Education.
Library : The school has a well equipped library with books of a wide range of interest, carefully chosen to be of educational value to the students of all age groups.
Laboratories : The Science Department has three well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students of Classes VII to XII have facilities to do experiments & project work under the supervision of a highly qualified teaching staff. Demonstration classes are also held for students of lower classes at regular intervals.
Computer Laboratory : A well equipped computer lab is established and students are given the opportunity to get oriented to Computer education from Class I onwards
Transportation : The school has AC buses operating throughout Ras Al-Khaimah. All the students availing the school transport are insured. Plans are afoot to increase the number of buses in order to cater to a larger number of students.
Medical Care : There is a well equipped First Aid centre available in the school. A permanent Nurse and a Doctor is available in the school.
The Book Store : Text books, Note books, Uniforms, ties, etc. are available in the school stores.
Evening Games : Basketball, Volleyball, Throw ball, Shuttle Badminton as well as Table Tennis have become very popular nowadays with participation of more number of students.
Co-Curricular & Extra-Curricular Activities
Aiming at an all round development of the child's personality,the school offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Activities include Elocution,Quiz,Recitation,Essay writing,Versification,Debating,Athletics,Art and music and Science Club.Promising students are provided expert guidance to prove their talents in competitions.
Student council and house system
To inculcate a sense of team spirit and healthy competition, the students and teachers are divided into four houses: Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.

Students of the school are led by school leaders (head boy and head girl). Each house has house leaders and prefects to check the discipline and general order of the school. Elections are done in a democratic way, making the students to vote for their leaders.

School has achieved several awards and prizes in academics,sports and cultural activities. School has been getting best results in Secondary and Senior Secondary board exams.
As of 2012 CBSE results, about 25% of the students of grade X scored A1 in all the subjects and others with first class. In grade XII board exam, school has fetched the best results in both the streams. In the Science Stream, Anupa Ann Jacob got top honours with 95.8% followed by Anusha Sreedharan scoring 95.6%. In Commerce Stream the first place was shared by Aparna Sasidharan and Saniya Shaikh scoring 94.2% followed by Priyanka with 92.4%.
As of 2013 CBSE results, 24 students off 112 scored A1 in all the subjects in grade X exam. In grade XII exam, school reaped marvellous success in all the streams. In the Science Stream, Steffin John Eapen secured the top position with 95% followed by Rhea Raisinghani scoring 92%. In the Commerce Stream, Adarsh Valiyaveettil Janardhanan bagged the first position scoring 94.6%, closely followed by Sheba Benny with 94.4%.
The results show the hardwork, dedication, knowledge and experience of the teaching staff of the school.
School has a good athletics, basketball,cricket and football teams which have won numerous events in Emirates and National levels. School is also famous for its Quiz teams. Students of the school have performed brilliantly and won in many cultural events such as Dala Youth Festival, Teens India Summit, Birla Quiz etc.
