[edit] Locations

The main location is in Indianapolis. In addition, IFSA-Butler employs full-time staff in locations throughout the world, including Argentina, Australia, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru and Scotland. In each country where IFSA-Butler maintains an active study abroad program, a student service coordinator represents the organization.

[edit] Partners

As a third-party study abroad provider, IFSA-Butler is affiliated with universities around the world. Some of the university partners offer educational services in the destination countries. Others filter their study abroad programs through IFSA-Butler.

IFSA-Butler partners with local tourism offices, such as Tourism Southern Highlands in Australia, to offer additional excursions to traveling students.

Officials at IFSA-Butler monitor travel safety warnings for student travel areas through the U.S. State Department (www.state.gov), equivalent offices in the countries where they operate, through resident staff, and the universities where they have programs.

[edit] History

IFSA-Butler was founded in 1988 by Dr. David Gray and Tom Roberts.[3] IFSA-Butler was created to prepare students before departure, as well as to provide support and assistance in the host country after arrival.

For several years after its founding, IFSA-Butler was officially part of Butler University. However, the organization is now a separate entity with its own administration, budget, staff benefits and policies. IFSA-Butler is still legally affiliated with Butler University for transcripts and academic approvals of new university affiliates.
