Institute of Handloom and Textile Tehnology (IHTT) an Institute set up by the Kerala state Government (south India) for the Development of Hand loom Industry. IHTT conducts programmes for modernized technical education in hand loom and textile technology. It is also the agency for detailing Central/State Governments developmental programmes to the grass root level.
Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Industries, Government of Kerala and the nodal agency in the State for giving input of Science and Technology to the traditional Handloom Textile Industry. The Institute was established and registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 in the year 1987.
The Governing body of the Institute consists of 13 members from different Government, Public sector and Private Organizations nominated by Government of Kerala.
The Institute has a premises of 4.13 acres (16,700 m2) of land and a building capacity of 3804 square meters on the National Highway 17 from Kannur to Thalassery at Kizhunna, Thottada, 8 km away from District Headquarters, Kannur.
