The International Indian School, Dammam (IISD), formerly Indian Embassy School Dammam (IESD), was founded on 13 October 1982. The school is a non-profit institution operated exclusively to provide quality education to Indian children up to senior secondary level.

IISD, was established on 10 Oct 1982 with 250 students and 15 teachers in a few portacabins. Today there are 15,366 students, 776 teachers, 100 janitorial members, 30 administrative staff members and a fleet of 70 transportation buses on hire from a bus company, SAPTCO. It is affiliated to the CBSE and has three streams – Arts, Science and Commerce.

The students have done well in co-curricular activities and have participated at the national level in badminton, cricket, football, table tennis and athletics.

Dr. EK Mohammad Shaffe is the current Principal. He is a recipient of President Award 2010. He was awarded the best teacher by the Indian President Ms Pratibha Patil .

IISD is one of the largest schools in the Middle East. The school is managed by an elected Management Committee, which is elected by the parents of students and functions under supervision of Higher Board. The managing committee members are- Mr John Thomas(chairman), Dr Shamshad Ahmed, Mr Mohammad Fayazuddin, Mr Aboobacker Kunnath Parambil, Mr Mohammad Asghar khan, Mr S Balamurali, Mr. Radha krishna Ravi.


The school is also very active in co-curricular activities, sports (indoor-outdoor), athletics, crafts, debating, etc. and has won first place in many interschool competitions.

Dress code: white and blue (1st to 12th std). The school has a canteen. There are exhibitions held where students participate.
