The Iri Station Explosion was a disaster occurred in Iri, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea on November 10, 1977.

On that day a freight train at Iri station had a load of 40-ton dynamite explosives. The cause of explosion is known to be a human error. A guard, under the influence of alcohol, accidentally ignited the explosives. The explosion occurred at 9:15 PM, resulting in 59 people dead and 185 people receiving serious injuries. [1]
