In the children's television series Sesame Street, Irvine is Oscar the Grouch's niece & a Grouch baby. She once stayed in Oscar's trash can while he was away, in Sesame Street episode 2606. She has also made many other appearances on the show, up through Season 30. She has a tendency to scream & cry very often. Her parents aren't seen in the show, ever. Whether she is the daughter of Oscar's brother Ernest or Otto is unknown.

Also, in Episode 2402, Maria watches Irvine while she's taking her daily nap for Oscar, who just had to go to the Grouch supermarket. Unfortunately for Maria, eventually, Count von Count wakes Irvine up w/ his counting, & Maria just can't get Irvine back to sleep. Biff & Sully (mainly Biff) tell her the story of Cinderella, but that doesn't work either. Then, the Two-Headed Monster plays her a violin lullaby, but that doesn't work & then they start crying too. Then, when Oscar returns, he tells Maria, who gives up, there's only 1 way to get a baby Grouch to go back to sleep. Oscar starts yet another argument with his girlfriend Grundgetta & Irvine falls asleep in a matter of seconds. Oscar says Grouch babies love to fall asleep to the sound of a good loud argument.

Also, in episode 2630, Irvine gets a case of "The Grouch Flu" and starts acting the total opposite of the way a Grouch like her would normally act. However, eventually, thanks to Oscar's care, and some help from some of the nice people on Sesame Street, Irvine makes a speedy full recovery.

Also in episode 3811, Irvine insists she also be allowed to take a bath, much to Oscar's concern. After letting Irvine take a bath, Oscar remarks, "She may be clean, but she's still ugly."
