Ismat Alamgir (born 25 December 1988) is a Bengali film actress. She is known for first appearing in the popular 2011 television advertisements on Bangladeshi television. She will be[needs update] making her feature film debut with Simanaheen (Bengali).[1]

Early life[edit]

Alamgir was born in Bangladesh and immigrated to the United States when she was young. Growing up, Ismat had a strong interest in the arts and film. While studying Nursing at Oakland University, she decided to pursue a career in modeling and acting.


Alamgir is a trained Indian Classical dancer and has performed in numerous South Asian cultural events in the Greater Chicago Metropolitan area.[2] Alamgir began her acting career by appearing in television commercials on NTV, Channel i, and ATN Bangla with her Simanaheen co-star, Rahsaan Islam, endorsing the international travel brand,, an affiliate of American company Trans Am Travel. She then signed and began shooting for Simanaheen in 2011. The film will be[needs update] launching her as a leading Bengali actress in 2012.
