The JB Institute of Engineering and Technology (JBIET)(Autonomous) is a technical institute located in Amdapur X (Cross) Roads, near Chilkur, Hyderabad, India. It is 22 km from the city center. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and permanently affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) & National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).JBIET is ranked among the top 20 private engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

J. B. Educational Society was formed in the year 1993 by J. Bhaskar Rao for providing quality professional education in English and meeting the expectations of the industry as well as the students in Andhra Pradesh.

J. B. Institute of Engineering and Technology (JBIET), was established by JBES on an expanse of 27.5 acres on the main road at Yenkapally village, Vikarabad main road, Moinabad Mandal, Hyderabad–75, with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The college started functioning from the academic year 1998-99, initially with four branches with a total intake of 240 students. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. The present intake of the society is around 4000 students that comprises the intake of 1050 Students from JBIET for seven branches, which makes the highest intake among all Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The Library and Information Centre has about 206 periodicals and journals (both National and International) and 10 prominent daily newspapers (English & Telugu) are made available in the Library.

The Student Activity Centre housing the student body of J.B.I.E.T - THE INTELLECTS has been started in the academic year 2002-2003.

The oldest and most prominent student organizations are the Student Activity Centre, Rotaract Club of JBIET, Music and Fine Arts Club(M.A.F.I.A), Photography Club.

The technical student organizations include the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Students Chapter, SAE International Collegiate Club, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and The Institution of Engineers (India). JBIET also has units of the National Service Scheme (NSS) functioning in its campus. Other international organizations such as AIESEC are active in JBIET. National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit is also functioning in JBIET
JBIET has its own Linux Users Group called [Jblug] consisting of enthusiasts who promote technology and knowledge sharing with Open Source Technologies.

[edit] Extra Curricular Activities

InXs The college hosts a yearly fest/annual day called 'INXS' mostly during the months of April or March. It is usually a two day festival/programme. The college also organises a yearly National level technical fest called the INFOQUEST which is held during the months of October/November. It is organised under the banner of IEEE & CSI. The main motto of this event is to provide students resources and contacts needed for the enhancement of their professional development. These events range from workshops, guest lectures, group Discussions,paper presentations, Hardware assembly contest, technical Quiz and other events from almost all spheres of technology and science. Students from all over nation participate in this event.

Besides the monthly news letter, the college has the annual magazine "Spoorthi". This contains complete statistics about the college, messages from dignitaries like Governor on occasion of Inxs and articles from students and faculty. Articles are usually written in English, Hindi and Telugu.

Sports at JBIET are a part of the curriculum and the institute offers facilities for sports and games such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, track and field events, etc. Indoor facilities include carroms, chess, table tennis, and badminton. Separate play grounds for boys and girls are available.

The college has JNT University cricket, volleyball, basketball and athletics teams.
