J.J. Fernandez, better known by his on air name JJ, is a radio announcer for hitz.fm's breakfast show The Morning Crew, the No.1 English radio show in Malaysia.

Starting out as a Prado Cruiser in the late 1990s, JJ' is the only hitz.fm radio announcer to have hosted all its time slots. In 2003, with the departure of Li'l Kev and Fly Guy, JJ was called in to fill in the spot the day they left. He needed a partner, and since he has been working with rookie Rudy Sufian as the weekend breakfast crew they brought Rudy in to be the new Morning Crew, for the time being. Then the bosses assumed that he was not good enough and brought in Malaysian rock-star Jason Lo were called up. He joined the show an after 2 months JJ was kicked out. Unfortunately, after a year the synergy was poor between rookie Rudy Sufian and Lo, which prompted the station to act. Being the only announcer at the station with experience hosting the demanding breakfast slot, JJ who was then on the drive-home slot was promoted up to the breakfast show switching places with Lo.

[edit] Family

JJ comes from a broadcasting family. His father, a radio announcer himself, has been doing the sports commentary on Arena Sukan over RTMs English radio network since the early 1960s. His elder brother is an award winning TVC film director.
