James Anderson (born September 26, 1983 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina) is an American football linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. Anderson played college football at Virginia Tech and was drafted in the third round (88th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Anderson was a high school and college football teammate of DeAngelo Hall at Deep Creek High School and Virginia Tech. In college, Anderson played in 53 games recording 218 tackles, seven sacks and three interceptions. He graduated with a Studio Arts degree.

Anderson was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (88th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. In his debut season, he appeared in 16 games and recorded 25 tackles. He made his first career start at the Cincinnati Bengals on October 22. In the 2007 season, he played in ten games and recorded 11 tackles.

In 2011, Anderson was re-signed to the Carolina Panthers. A 5-year deal worth 22 million dollars and 8.5 million guaranteed.
