James Patrick Buckley (born 16 August 1987) is an English actor and musician, best known for his roles as Jay Cartwright in the British comedy The Inbetweeners and Derek "Del Boy" Trotter in Rock & Chips.

[edit] Early life
James was born in Croydon, Greater London in 1987. At the age of 2 he moved to Dagenham and attended Beam Primary School. It was here whilst taking part in school plays that James found out how much he enjoyed performing and started going to a stage school at the weekends from the age of 7. At 11 James began his first professional jobs in the west end shows Whistle Down the Wind and then Les Misérables the following year.

As well as The Inbetweeners, The Inbetweeners Movie and Rock & Chips, Buckley's other TV credits include an episode of Skins (in Season 1, Episode 7 "Michelle") as a boyfriend of the character Cassie, and episodes of The Bill, Holby City and Teachers.[1]
He also played the character of Fred in Off the Hook.[2]
For Red Nose Day 2011 Buckley and his fellow cast members of Inbetweeners went on a rude road trip and visited the rudest street names in the United Kingdom in just 50 hours.
In April 2011, Buckley received a BAFTA nomination for his role in The Inbetweeners.

Buckley played the main character in short film Veronique. He had a part in British film Everywhere and Nowhere, released in 2011. He reprises his role as Jay Cartwright in The Inbetweeners Movie, released 17 August 2011.

His stage credits include the West End musical Les Misérables as Gavroche and Whistle Down The Wind as Clarence.[3]
James Buckley also does voice-overs utilising his distinctive accent. He recently worked with AllAboutCareers.com[4] to produce an explanatory animation for the website. Buckley is also the narrator on E4's 2011 Clip show, Little Box of Horrors.
Buckley starred in the music video for States of Emotion's track "The Unsung",[5] and also features on backing vocals and guitar on Steve Cradock's new album, Peace City West.[6]
He was also in a Hellman's advert in 2004.

Buckley has a son, Harrison, born 26 October 2011 with Scottish former model, Clair Meek. [7]
Buckley is also a passionate fan of, Crystal Palace FC.[8]
