Jamundí is a town and municipality located in the Department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

Jamundí is located 23 km south of Cali, the capital of the Department, Valle del Cauca. The average Temperature is 23 grades Celsius.

Foundation Jamundi was founded on march of the year 1536,4 months before Cali, by the Spanish colonizers Pedro de Añazco y Juan de Ampudia. The name come from the Cacique Jamundi, chief of the tribe that lived in this territory before the arrival of the Spanish.

Jamundí is very affected by the Colombian armed conflict as of 2011. In August 2011 a large group of FARC guerrillas attacked the military, killing two soldiers from the Colombian amry and wounding four more.[1][2][3]
