Janmadinam (literally "Birthday") is a collection of short stories by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer published in 1945. The story after which the collection is named is about one day in the life of a writer struggling to make a living. This can also be interpreted as the birthday of the nation struggling to get a foothold .
