Javanrud (Persian: جوانرود, Javanrud; Kurdish: جوانرو, Ciwanrro, Jwanro) is a Kurdish city in the Kermanshah province of Iran.

The name of the city originates from Javan roud which means river of Jav or Jafs the traditional name of local inhabitants, who are descendants of the Jaf tribe and speak Sorani Kurdish. An older name of Javanrud was Alani.

This county is bounded in the north and west to Paveh, in the south-east to Rawansar, in the south-west to Islam-Abad and Sarpol-e-zahab. According to 1375 census, Javanroud had a population of 73317 people. It consists of two districts: central and Javanroud, and six townships. The town of Javanroud 79 kilometers north of Kermanshah is 1300 meters above sea level.
