Jayski's Silly Season Site is a web site focusing primarily on NASCAR news and rumors, created and run by Charlotte-area resident Jayski, a former United States Air Force mechanic, FAA programmer / contractor, on August 26, 1996. Jayski started the site after having difficulty finding news regarding the Melling Racing team and has since worked to get all the NASCAR news grouped together on his site.[2] The term Silly Season refers to the period of time (after the regular season) when many teams seek to make changes to prepare for next season.
Website [edit]
Jayski's is well known by NASCAR drivers and fans alike,[3] and is often mentioned on NASCAR-related television shows. It also is home to pictures of the many paint schemes that teams use throughout the year, as well as television schedules, and tributes to deceased drivers. The site was started as a page on August 26, 1996 and was housed at a few local IP's until signing a deal with Racing Champions for a year in 2000 and then from 2001 until 2004 the site was hosted by Knight Ridder's ThatsRacin.com. Starting in 2005, the site was been hosted by and affiliated with ESPN.com, but ownership was retained by Jayski. In April 2007, as part of its renewed interest in NASCAR following re-acquisition of broadcasting rights, ESPN purchased Jayski.com, though Jayski continues to be the operator.
