Jiyūgaoka
Jiyūgaoka (自由が丘 Jiyūgaoka) is a commercial and residential neighborhood in Meguro and Setagaya, located in Tokyo.

Jiyūgaoka consists of the area surrounding Jiyūgaoka Station, where the Tōyoko Line and Ōimachi Line intersect. Jiyūgaoka itself is in the southern end of Meguro ward, but commercial and residential area extends to neighbouring Okusawa (奥沢) area of Setagaya ward, thus it is often considered as one commercial and residencial area.
There are many numbers of apparel stores, zakka stores and restaurants. Jiyūgaoka is often considered as one of the most wanted place to live in Tokyo.[1] The area has its own newspaper dating back to 1919.[2]

On August 28, 1927, Kuhonbutsu-mae Station (九品仏前駅 Kuhonbutsu-mae eki) was established on Tōyoko Line. In the same year, Jiyūgaoka-gakuen High School was opened.[3]
In 1927, Ōimachi Line was opened and new station Kuhonbutsu Station (九品仏駅 Kuhonbutsu-mae eki) was established about 800m west of the already existing Kuhonbutsu-mae Station. Kuhonbutsu-mae Station was renamed to Jiyugaoka Station.[4]
